At the Gualala Community Center, we run a Pay ‘n’ Take program to fund our mission. We collect a wide range of clean, lightly used items, from furniture and housewares to electronics, art, books, toys, and clothing, all generously donated by our local community members. We are a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization (EIN 94-6108894). These items are then resold at reasonable prices.
Please call Bill Matthews (707) 884-4028 if you are donating large items, as our space is limited.
Remember, bed pillows and mattresses cannot be accepted by law.
Your responsible donations are invaluable to us and help us better serve the community.
Money from the monthly Pay ‘n’ Take sales has funded:
- College Scholarships – $6,500 in 2023
- Underwrites community activities – EduAct, KidBank Basketball,
- Underwrites Coastal Seniors Tuesday Lunches –
- Underwrites three local food banks (Annapolis, Gualala, Point Arena) –
- Underwrites Project Santa and Lighted Truck Parade –
- Supports the local Farmers Market –
- Hosts public meetings –
- Hosts GMAC –
- Provides clothing and furniture to people with emergency needs
By participating in our Pay ‘n ‘Take program, you’re not just supporting our community; you’re also helping to reduce waste. Knowing that our community is not adding to the landfill gives us another purpose.
We have teams of volunteers who process, price and display Pay ‘n’ Take new and used items for the sales. We sell household goods, clothing, furniture, electronics, jewelry, and books.
All children’s clothing, in the clothing store, is free. Teen clothing is donated to Action Network in Pt. Arena.
These events have become a social occasion, in addition to raising funds. Members of our communities gather to shop and visit with each other.
